How Can You Improve Your Energy Levels Without Coffee?

Food & Drink That Will Boost Your Energy Levels

Many of us head straight for a cup of coffee if we’re feeling tired. And rightly so. It’s high in caffeine and can give us that much-needed energy boost when we feel like we’re flagging. Coffee is a natural energy booster due to its high caffeine content. However, there are other ways to improve your energy levels that don’t involve coffee.

Coffee is a great solution when you’re feeling tired – but are there other options? Yes. Are there other natural options? Sure! And, we’re here to tell you about them. Now, we’re not saying you have to give up your morning coffee. That’s not the case. We’re simply providing you with a few other alternatives for when you’re trying to cut down on coffee, and see what else is out there.

Matcha Green Tea

Matcha tea is a powdered green tea that is hugely popular in Japan. It is mixed with milk and turns into a smooth green milky tea. It has a particularly fresh, yet somewhat astringent taste. Think of a creamy kind of green tea taste. We might not have sold it to you in terms of taste, but try it for yourself. The reason we mention matcha is that it is also a natural source of caffeine. Even more so than coffee! So, if you fancy a green drink in the morning that isn’t a spinach smoothie – this might be the drink for you. You can also drink it hot or cold depending on preference!

Bananas

If you’re looking for slow releasing energy, choosing a particularly high-carb fruit such as a banana is a great choice. Bananas break down slowly over the day and release their natural sugars as they do so. This means as they slowly break down when you digest them, you get to feel the effects of the natural sugar gradually, rather than in a big hit like you do with chocolate or sweets.

Spinach

We know we spoke about how Matcha tea is a great alternative to spinach smoothies. However, if you can stomach it – spinach is great for energy levels. This is owing to the fact that spinach is high in iron! Iron is brilliant for helping more oxygen work its way around your body. Thus meaning your body will have more energy to carry out tasks, especially ones requiring a lot of brain power in the office. There’s a reason why it gave Popeye superpowers…

Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate, unlike milk and white chocolate, is far less refined. This means it’s much more similar to the natural cacao you would find in nature. Cacao is rich in antioxidants, meaning they can improve blood flow around the body. By improving blood flow, more oxygen makes its way around the body which has a positive effect on brain function. This means you’ll be able to power through even the most strenuous brain tasks.
